Ship firmware to the field, under control
Store your code-signed firmware builds in your own Extra Horizon cluster and push them over the air to the fleet you choose. Roll out in stages, watch adoption as it happens, and keep a record of exactly which device received which version — without your signing keys ever leaving your build pipeline.

Writing the firmware was the easy part
Every connected medical device you ship will need to be patched — for a bug, a feature, or a vulnerability disclosed long after launch. What decides whether that is routine or painful is the machinery around the update, not the update itself.
An update is a regulated change
Pushing firmware to a certified device is not a deployment, it is a change to a product on the market. You need to decide who receives it, when, and be able to show afterwards exactly what landed where.
You can't ship to a fleet you can't target
A fix might apply to one hardware revision, one market, or one hospital. Without cohorts, every rollout becomes all-or-nothing — and all-or-nothing is not a risk you can defend.
A bad build reaches everyone at once
The update that bricks a device in the field is worse than the bug it fixed. Staged rollouts, adoption monitoring and a way back are what make shipping firmware survivable.
Over-the-air updates
Store it once, roll it out with control
Extra Horizon gives you the backend for over-the-air updates: a place to keep your signed firmware, a registry that knows which device should get it, and the workflows to release it in stages — built with the same flexible data models as the rest of your product.
A signed firmware repository
Upload the code-signed build straight from your pipeline into your own Extra Horizon cluster. Every version is stored, versioned and retained alongside the fleet it belongs to.
Your keys stay yours
You sign the artifact in your build process; the platform stores and distributes it. Extra Horizon never needs your signing key — and the device verifies the signature before it flashes anything.
Target the right devices
Roll out by hardware revision, market, customer, study arm or any cohort you define — using the same device registry that backs your fleet management.
Staged rollouts
Start with a pilot group, watch it land, then widen the ring. Build the pacing, approval gates and stop conditions your risk assessment calls for.
Adoption and failure monitoring
See which serial numbers took the update, which are still pending and which failed — while the rollout is running, not in next quarter's export.
Evidence for every rollout
Who approved it, which devices received which version, and when. A traceable record you can hand to an auditor instead of reconstructing it.
Built for regulated devices
Updates you can defend in an audit
Regulators no longer accept a device that cannot be patched — nor a patch that cannot be traced. Both sides of that expectation are what this is built around.
Patchable by design
FDA section 524B expects cyber devices to be updatable and expects you to show how. A rollout mechanism you can describe and demonstrate is part of the submission, not an afterthought.
Change control that holds up
IEC 62304 and IEC 81001-5-1 treat a firmware release as a controlled change. Versioned artifacts and per-device rollout records give your QA team the trail they need.
A qualified supplier
The platform underneath is ISO 13485, ISO 27001 and IEC 62304 certified and slots into your supplier controls — evidence you inherit, not produce.
